Davorn's Place is a full-service Asian restaurant in the heart of Visalia, serving a thoughtful blend of Thai, Vietnamese Pho, and some Japanese-influenced dishes. Located on N Willis Street, it fits well as a stop for both locals and travelers, especially those coming through on their way to Sequoia National Park or exploring downtown.

The atmosphere leans toward casual and approachable, with a slightly retro feel in its decor and booth seating that invites you to settle in for a relaxed meal rather than a quick bite. The space feels welcoming and unpretentious, with friendly staff who tend to the menu questions and keep service moving steadily even when the restaurant gets busy.

Davorn’s Place shines with its diverse menu, which offers classic Thai staples like Pad Thai and Red Curry alongside Vietnamese-inspired dishes such as Chicken Pho and Tom Yum Noodle Soup. For those looking for a lighter option, fresh rolls and edamame provide great starters, while heartier plates like Grilled Korean BBQ Short Ribs with sticky rice bring in a meaty, smoky contrast. Sushi rolls like the Dragon and Volcano add another layer to their variety.

Local diners seem to appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and the balance of flavors, especially the curries and pho, which stand out as comforting, well-executed choices. The drink menu extends beyond typical sodas and teas to include Thai Tea, creative martinis, and a selection of drafts, making it a viable option for an early evening meal where casual cocktails fit the mood.

This spot works well for families, couples, or friends looking for a place that pairs familiar Asian flavors with something a bit more extensive than a typical takeout joint. Lunchtimes and early dinners are moments when you might find steady foot traffic, though there’s ample parking behind the restaurant, which takes some pressure off for those driving in from other parts of town.

In summary, Davorn’s Place is best experienced when you have time to try a few dishes and take note of the nuanced blend of regional Asian cuisines they bring to the Visalia table. The friendly service and homey atmosphere make it a comfortable setting for casual meals and those wanting a more varied Asian food experience without stepping out of town.

We were able to get seated immediately and given enough time to look at the menu. Once we ordered, we waited a bit for our meal, but it was well worth the wait. The food was fresh and delicious. My husband got Pad Thai and I got combined meat Pho. For dessert we had fried bananas and ice cream. Everything was amazing, food and service was excellent.

My cousin took us here on Halloween day while we were visiting. I had never tried the spring rolls with the clear wrap but, glad we did! They were very good along with the main dishes. My wife tried their Pho and I had the chicken broccoli. We also ordered a roll, wish I could remember the name or have gotten pics of the menu. Overall it was a great experience, I would definitely return next time I visit.

I’ve had a lot of Thai curries over the years and it’s my favourite food. The Phanaeng Curry here was delicious. Tried some of the other dishes my family had and also hit the spot. Super friendly service with a smile. The decor and booths were a bit of a blast from the past but not off putting. Lots of car parking out back. We used Visalia as a gateway stop to Sequoia National Park and if I went back I would go back to Davorn’s Lao/Thai restaurant.
